The HPE Storage Rack-mount Kits (formerly known as HPE StoreEver Rack-mount Kits) provide a high-density, rack-mountable tape drive solution for SAS backup and archiving applications in a 1U rack-mount kit. The 1U HPE StoreEver Rack-mount Kit accommodates up to two half-height internal SAS tape drives with a maximum capacity of 90 TB (2.5:1 compression) using two HPE StoreEver LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 drives.

HPE Storage LTO Ultrium Tape Drives (formerly known as HPE StoreEver LTO Ultrium Tape Drives) represent nine generations of linear tape open (LTO) technology capable of storing up to 45 TB¹ per cartridge, with hardware data encryption, with linear tape file system (LTFS) for ease of use at an unprecedented performance. Data hardware encryption using AES 256-bit provides easy-to-enable security to protect the most sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access of tape cartridges. LTFS is an open format for storing data on tape that makes LTO generation 5 and later tapes self-describing and file-based. The HPE Storage MSL3040 Tape Library is a scalable, modular data protection solution designed for SMB to mid-sized environments. It starts with a fully functional 3U base unit that can be equipped with up to three drives and operates as a compact yet powerful backup and archival system. From there, it can scale up to 48U with expansion modules, supporting up to 640 cartridges and 48 half-height LTO tape drives for up to 28.8 PB of compressed storage.
